Grading Policies
Student grades are determined through summative assessments in three categories.
Performance Based AssignmentsThis category makes up 45% of the students’ final grade. Activities include any skill checks, playing tests, sight-reading activities, and feedback for projects.
Written Assignments
This category makes up 45% of the students’ final grade. Activities include any bell ringers, exit slips, reflections, listening guides, notation reading assignments, and music vocabulary
Participation
This category makes up 10% of the students’ final grade. Attendance at concerts, school or community performances is required to receive full credit. If a student is unable to attend an event, communication by a parent or guardian is required at least a week before the event to be considered excused. Students who are excused from a performance will complete a make-up assignment.
Work conflicts, planned family events, trips, ect. that are communicated the week of an event will not be considered excused.
